The lights have gone down and the speakers are blaring “Miss Americana and The Heartbreak Prince” by Taylor Swift, as Taylor herself takes the stage.
Taylor Swift is an American singer-song writer, who started releasing music at just 16 years old, beginning with her debut album, Taylor Swift (2006). She was 17 when she won her first award: “Breakthrough Video of the Year” at Nashville’s CMT Music Awards. As Swift continued to make music, she released 9 more albums: Fearless (2008), Speak Now (2010), Red (2012), 1989 (2014), Reputation (2017), Lover (2019), Folklore (2020), Evermore (2020), and Midnights (2022). Since then, she has gone on five world tours to support her various albums.
In 2019 she stopped working with Big Machine Records where she recorded her first 6 albums. Following that, Scooter Braun, an American music executive, acquired her music, taking control of her early work. As a result, Swift published re-recordings of Fearless and Red in 2021, Speak Now in April 2023, and 1989 will be coming out in October 2023; all of which include vault tracks from the said albums. Each one has “Taylor’s Version” at the end of the album name, meaning she has full ownership of them forever. Although Taylor has yet to announce Debut’s (Taylor’s Version) and Reputation ‘s(Taylor’s Version) release dates, fans anticipate the announcement of both soon.
To add to her list of concerts, in November 2022 she announced Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. Here she will perform songs from each of her 10 albums, including two surprise acoustic songs. She has already performed more than 30 different shows throughout the U.S. and will continue the tour through November 2024. Along with that, she will be releasing Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie on October 13, 2023. The movie will include the performances of each song, documenting the fun and exhilarating shows she puts together.
Since Taylor is such a known artist, ticket sales went through the roof when they were released. The Ticket Master site crashed when fans tried to get online and many weren’t able to get the tickets when they had the chance. After the madness dialed down, Swift gave her fans a second chance to see the show. Furthermore, the tour has generated up to $5 billion in consumer spending in just America. “If Taylor Swift were an economy, she’d be bigger than 50 countries,” said Dan Fleetwood, President of QuestionPro Research and Insights.
Taylor Swift has been, and continues to be, one of the most hard-working artists of this generation. With her devoted fans and determination for success, she stays on top of her passion.
